U-M to Screen Select Films from the Black Maria Film Festival


Films from the 37th Black Maria Film Festival are coming to a screen near you in Ann Arbor! On Monday, October 22, featured selections from Program 1 of the festival will be showing at the Auditorium in the Art and Architecture Building at the University of Michigan from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Festival director Jane Steuerwald will be in attendance!

The Black Maria Film Festival is an international competition for short films in animation, experimental, narrative, and documentary. The films showing at this tour stop include New York City Sketchbook by Willy Hartland of Brooklyn, New York; Insecta by Ramey Newell of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; and headlined by #TAKEMEANYWHERE by Shia LaBeouf, Nastja Rönkkö, and Luke Turner. This film follows the filmmakers on a 31-day interactive journey influenced by the input of Twitter users.
