Looking for hands-on experience in the arts, film, communications, or event production? The Ann Arbor Film Festival (AAFF) is seeking creative, motivated, and dependable students and emerging professionals to join our team as we prepare for the 65th Ann Arbor Film Festival, taking place March 23–28, 2027.
You don’t need to be an expert in experimental film to apply. We’re looking for individuals interested in marketing, communications, digital media, graphic design, business engagement, operations, and other creative fields who are eager to put their skills into practice while working behind the scenes of one of the world’s longest-running experimental film festivals.
What Is an AAFF Internship Like?
An AAFF internship offers a chance to experience the many moving parts that go into producing an international film festival. Interns work closely with our small, collaborative staff and take on meaningful projects that support the festival throughout the season.
From creating content and connecting with audiences to helping coordinate festival logistics, interns gain a behind-the-scenes look at how an arts organization operates—and how a festival comes together from the first planning meeting to opening night.
Internships begin in Fall 2026 and continue through April 2027, with flexible hours throughout the year and increased involvement as the festival approaches.
Internship Opportunities
We offer positions across several areas of festival production, allowing interns to gain experience that aligns with their interests and career goals:
Digital Media – Create photo and video content, assist with social media, and help document the festival experience.
Graphic Design – Develop creative materials for digital platforms, print publications, promotions, and the festival itself.
Marketing & Communications – Support marketing campaigns, social media, newsletters, public relations, and audience outreach.
Operations – Assist with the planning and coordination that keeps festival projects, events, and logistics on track.
Business Engagement – Help build connections with community organizations, promote festival programming, and expand access to AAFF.
Print Traffic - Assist with print traffic, media intake, screening file preparation, theater coordination, and the creation of program slides and other festival presentation materials.

Many positions offer remote flexibility during the year, but in-person availability during festival week, March 23–28, 2027, is required.
