Spotlighting 64th AAFF Intern Cohort (Part 2!)

They say ‘it takes a village,’ and nowhere is that more true than at the Ann Arbor Film Festival. I’m continually in awe and inspired by our interns— their professionalism, talent, and passion for this organization.

Each brings a unique skill set and perspective, yet they all share a deep level of dedication for ensuring the success of this small but mighty arts nonprofit. The festival truly wouldn’t be possible without our incredible intern cohort, year after year.

What aspect of the 64th AAFF are you most excited to be a part of or most looking forward to?

The aspect of next years’ festival that I am most excited about is watching a wide variety of films that embody experimental cinema. I’m also really excited about meeting some of the incredible filmmakers and talented individuals who make the movies and bring the festival to life!

What genre and style would a film about your life be?

I think a film about my life would be a coming-of-age movie that never really ends, and would incorporate experimental editing that plays with different mediums. I’m especially drawn to philosophical ideas surrounding time and personal identity, and I would want those themes to fuse into the movie.

What’s the first film you remember watching that left a lasting impression on you?

The first one that comes to mind is Peter Pan. The original version. As a child, I remember being completely obsessed with the idea of transporting to a wholly different world where no-one ever grew up (something I still wish for sometimes). Looking back, I think that fantastical sense of other worlds out there drew me to the storytelling nature of movies.

What aspect of the 64th AAFF are you most excited to be a part of or most looking forward to?

I’m really excited to be on the inside of the action and be a part of the Ann Arbor Film Festival. I’m especially excited to see what goes on behind the scenes, and getting to watch the films that will be screened at the festival.

What is your favorite film you have ever seen in the Michigan Theater?

The new Superman movie has to be one of my favorite movies that I have ever seen at the Michigan Theater! I loved watching it, and I went with friends which made it a fun experience.

What genre and style would a film about your life be?

I’ll keep this short and sweet: A Guy Ritchie/Coen brothers mash-up drama.

What aspect of the 64th AAFF are you most excited to be a part of or most looking forward to?

The part that I’ve enjoyed the most so far has got to be getting to screen all the movies for the 64th Festival programming selection.

What is your favorite film you have ever seen in the Michigan Theater?

My favorite film I’ve ever seen at the Michigan theater is VIDEOHAVEN. It’s a great film that was produced by my professor Daniel Herbert.

If someone were to visit Ann Arbor for the film festival, what is something they should make sure to do in town?

They should go to the Hopcat downtown and try the Madtown grilled cheese! It is so so good, and my go-to stop when I have friends and family visiting.
