How to Hang Out in the Festival's Virtual Lobby
The 59th AAFF virtual lobby is now open! Join us in Gather.town, an easy-to-use virtual space that combines video-calling with a 2D map, letting you walk around and talk to the other people right next to you. The lobby will be open from now until the end of the festival. Find a quick how-to below, or check out Gather's FAQ page for more information about how to navigate the space. Join the lobby here.
First, join the lobby. Enter your name and choose your avatar. Pretty cute, huh? Hit next.
Before you enter the space, you'll need to allow camera and microphone access. Hit the button "Allow" in the top left corner and you'll see your face. Oh hey 👋 Then click "Join the gathering".
At this point, you'll be asked if you want to go through a tutorial. You can either proceed or skip it. It will show you how to move around, mute, and interact with objects.
After the tutorial, you'll be transported to a swanky rooftop bar. You can now find some new festival buddies to hang out with. Walk up to another avatar and their video will pop up. As you walk away the video will disappear.
