AAFF Seeks Operations Manager

The Ann Arbor Film Festival (AAFF) is seeking an experienced individual to join our team as the Operations Manager. In this role you will be responsible for strategic administrative and operational actions to ensure a successful Ann Arbor Film Festival each year.


If you are a locally-based events planner, analytical tech geek, budget-minded dynamo, task juggler, people person, and film lover who is familiar with Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti and understands the unique needs of a tiny non-profit arts organization, we want to hear from you!


As an employee of this small nonprofit arts organization, you will have the opportunity to wear many hats while being encouraged and supported to take initiative and try new things. You will work closely with our close-knit team to ensure day to day operations are seamless while simultaneously planning an annual, week long event that relies on donations, sponsorships, memberships, grants, submission fees, ticket sales and countless volunteers to ensure a successful festival that celebrates experimental film as an art form.

The successful candidate:

  • is extremely organized with strong attention to detail, and is a resourceful self-starter.

  • Must be good at multitasking and able to juggle multiple priorities.

  • The position has a customer service orientation which requires a cheerful demeanor and an ability to be graceful under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness is a must.

  • Strong financial acumen balanced with deep philanthropic values will be paramount

  • Must have a results orientation and strong sense of urgency about solving problems.

  • Dexterity with multiple databases including Neon CRM and online cloud-based platforms as well as a high comfort level learning new tech platforms is a must.

  • Administrative​

  • Operational​

  • Festival​ ​week

  • Data​ ​management

  • AAFF tour​ ​management,​ institutional ​DVD​ ​and​ ​licensing administration

  • Volunteer, intern, and contractor management

  • Other​ ​duties​ ​as​ ​assigned​ ​by​ Executive Director


The AAFF is the oldest experimental film festival in North America. Our mission is to support bold, visionary filmmakers, advance the art form of film and new media, and engage communities with remarkable cinematic experiences.


Our six-day festival presents films of all lengths and genres from all over the world including experimental, animation, documentary, narrative, and performance-based works. The 62nd AAFF will take place March 26-31, 2024.
