AAFF Intern Spotlight #3: Meet Coco DelVecchio, Shujun Li, and Jimmy Pawlowski!

We conclude our spotlight introductions of our amazing interns! We are excited for you to meet Coco DelVecchio, Shujun Li, and Jimmy Pawlowski who are experiencing their first Festival with us.


Coco DelVecchio

She/Her

Video Production Assistant

I am a junior from Pittsburgh, PA studying animation and video at the Penny Stamps School of Art at the University of Michigan. I also participate as a videographer for SHEI Magazine, a student-run fashion publication at UMICH. In my free time, I love going to art museums, watching video essays about my favorite films and tv shows, cooking elaborate dinners, and hanging out with my roommates and our black lab, Augusta!


What are you most looking forward to doing in your new position?


I am so excited to create trailers for this upcoming festival, as well as create a highlight reel that celebrates AAFF's greatest hits!


What's your go-to comfort film?


Kubo and the Two Strings (produced by Laika)


If you could hang out with any filmmaker who would it be and what would you do?


I would love to hang out with Jordan Peele---I think it would be fun to grab a bite to eat and hear about his creative brainstorming process for his amazing films.



Shujun Li

She/Her

Marketing and Public Relations Intern

I am a senior student at the University of Michigan majoring in both Communication and FTVM. Foodie, dog lover, film lover, and mom for two baby turtles :)


What are you most looking forward to doing in your new position?


Learning something new and meeting more people who love film


What's your go-to comfort film?


Big Fish


If you could hang out with any filmmaker who would it be and what would you do?


George Lucas for sure! And ask him how he came up with such a complicated but amazing galaxy.



Jimmy Pawlowski

Archive Assistant

I am a Senior Film Student and Filmmaker studying at Oakland University with an overwhelming passion for film and learning about other languages and cultures throughout the world.


What are you most looking forward to doing in your

new position?


I am looking forward to researching and familiarizing myself with the history of the festival while challenging myself creatively to generate content based off of that history.


What's your go-to comfort film?


Chungking Express



If you could hang out with any filmmaker who would it be and what would you do?


Take a scenic drive along Mulholland Drive with David Lynch.

All three have been busy since starting their internships with AAFF: Coco has been scheduling and recording interviews with all twelve directors of the Features in Competition and the three jurors: Shujun has been coordinating the Community and Education Partners and working in all facets of marketing; and Jimmy researched the connections between AAFF and the Academy Awards, and he created a trailer using images of all 61 programs books from AAFF's history.


A huge thank you to all eight of our interns. The festival truly would not be possible without them!
