62nd Ann Arbor Film Festival Kicks Off with an Afternoon Performance by David Olson and the Opening Night Party

March 28, 2024

62nd AAFF Opening Night Party, March 26, 2024

On Tuesday evening, the 62nd Ann Arbor Film Festival’s opening night party, plus our first program of films in competition, officially kicked off this year’s festival with well over 500 experimental film enthusiasts in attendance. Guests arrived from across the region and around the world with dozens of filmmakers attending (95 expected to join us in person by the time of the awards programs on Sunday evening).  What a great evening but don’t take our word for it: check out these photos!

The event would not have been possible without the drinks and food generously provided by Ann Arbor area businesses including Ann Arbor Distilling Company, Bigalora, Bløm Meadworks, Café Zola, Jerusalem Garden, Mothfire Brewing Co., Mediterrano and Carlyle Grill, Sava’s, Side Biscuit, TeaHaus, Vinology, Zingerman’s Creamery, and more.   Special thanks to Alvin Hill for being a remarkable DJ!

Earlier that afternoon, artist David Olson introduced his installation Grafica Harmolodica with a performance at the University of Michigan North Quad Space 2435 where our New Voices presentation of student experimental film is also being shown through March 31.

That was just the start, and there are three days left of the in-person festival and 10 days online!  Remarkable films and programs await you so get your tickets now!
