Beauty and the Beast

If you could hang out with any filmmaker who would it be and what would you do?

If I could hang out with any filmmaker I would choose Hayao Miyazaki. I am in love with his storytelling, worldbuilding, and film style. I would like to try some of the foods found in his films and spend time in nature.

Position: Screening & Submissions Intern

Hi there! My name is Selena and I'm currently in my senior year at Eastern Michigan University. I'm majoring in business administration with a concentration in management and I'm minoring in creative writing. In my spare time, I love to take my two dogs to the park, read great books, watch brilliant films, and travel wherever I can.

I’m most looking forward to meeting new people and learning everything I can about producing events and the film world. I love learning and making new friends, so if you see me, feel free to say hi!

What’s your go-to comfort film?

My go to comfort film is honestly one of the Fast & the Furious films. I love the stunts, the story, and the characters. My whole family loves the films as well so that makes them extra special to me. I’ve got my favorite quote from the 5th movie tattooed on my ribs. It’s “Salud Mi Familia” which translates to “Cheers, my family.”

If you could hang out with any filmmaker who would it be and what would you do?

I would hang out with Kathryn Bigelow because she was the first woman to win an Oscar for Best Director. I would want to spend the day walking around her favorite place in California, eating great food, and talking about how to have success in the film world as a woman.
