MCACA GRANT MAKES FUTURE FESTIVALS POSSIBLE

June 7, 2016

Last September, the AAFF was awarded a Capital Improvements Grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA). The funds were used to purchase a digital playback system for the exhibition of digital video files at the Festival, new digital storage backup to house AAFF business information and records, and updates for the IT infrastructure, which had reached capacity and was in need of improvement.

The digital playback equipment has been obtained and tested and is now ready for use at the 55th AAFF in March 2017. The Festival’s legacy and strong international reputation for exhibiting contemporary, culturally significant and thoughtful moving image artwork relies on its ability to screen this work for audiences. In purchasing new digital playback systems, the Festival remains able to screen digital content and continue its mission supporting bold, visionary filmmakers, advancing the art form of film and new media, and engaging communities with remarkable cinematic experiences.

We extend our deepest thanks to MCACA for their contribution in making our 54-year-old Festival possible for years to come!
