JURORS ANNOUNCED FOR 52ND FESTIVAL
The Ann Arbor Film Festival is proud to announce the three esteemed jurors for the 52nd AAFF. Steve Anker, Jeremy Rigsby, and Hope Tucker will each be in attendance throughout the week viewing over 120 films in competition and awarding over $20,000 in cash and film stock/processing. In addition, each juror will present a specially curated program of work during the festival.
Steve Anker is dean of the School of Film/Video at the California Institute of Arts, and formerly served as director of the San Francisco Cinematheque and as artistic director of the Foundation for Art in Cinema. He will present a program of artists’ films in the Super 8mm format, drawn from Big As Life: An American History of 8mm Films, an exhibition he co-curated for the Museum of Modern Art.
Jeremy Rigsby is the Program Director of the Media City Film Festival (Windsor, Canada). Media City will have its twentieth edition in July, 2014. Jeremy, along with fellow Media City Program Director Oona Mosna, will present nine films by artists whose work has been featured in retrospectives presented during the first two decades of Media City.
Hope Tucker, originally from Memphis, TN, is an artist working primarily in film and video. Since 2000, Tucker’s work has been exhibited internationally at museums, galleries and festivals, including four editions of the AAFF. Hope will present work from her ongoing series The Obituary Project, a compendium of contemporary salvage ethnography that documents the passing of cultural markers and ways of being.
