58th AAFF Submissions
AAFF
The six-day festival yearly presents nearly 40 programs, screening upwards of 180 films—of all lengths and genres—from more than 20 countries. The Ann Arbor Film Festival (AAFF) accepts short and feature-length animation, documentary, experimental, and narrative films and music videos. In addition to screenings, the AAFF also presents installations, performance-based works, and educational panels and presentations, both at the Michigan Theater and in event spaces around town. The film submission process for the 58th film festival in 2020 will begin on July 1, 2019.
Awards
The AAFF offers approximately $20,000 in both cash and in-kind awards each year. For a list of award winners from the 56th AAFF, click here.
Eligibility
The Ann Arbor Film Festival is open to film and video submissions that demonstrate a high regard for the moving image as an art form, no matter the genre. Work previously submitted may not be re-entered. Short and feature-length entries are accepted. Short films run no longer than 59 minutes. Feature films run 60 minutes or more. Foreign entries should have English subtitles.
Format
Entries must be submitted in the following formats: Internet link (URL) and 16mm. We do not accept DVD, Blu-Ray, VHS, or video data files for screening purposes.
Digital films are submitted one of two ways:
• Through AAFF's InfoReady entry form
• Through Withoutabox
If you are submitting a 16mm print for consideration: Please email submissions@aafilmfest.org for shipping advice.
One AAFF entry form or Withoutabox entry is required per film. Please submit a brief statement of two to three sentences (up to 70 words) about your film for use in the festival program.
Please do not submit a press packet with your film. Due to the volume of entries, we cannot ensure that your press packet will survive the submission season.
